Press Release: GCS Research Launches Geospatial Training Center

Northern Rockies Geospatial Training Center to provide instructor-led courses and hands-on training in the fields of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Microsoft technologies.

The Montana Technology Enterprise Center (MonTEC) is now home to a state-of-the-art training center specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and networked Web services utilizing Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) and Microsoft technologies.

Two of MonTEC's tenants, GCS Research LLC and AquilaVision, Inc., have partnered to create the Northern Rockies Geospatial Training Center to provide workforce skills for the growing field of geospatial technology. "MonTEC is a perfect facility for the training center" said GCS Research's Mike Beltz. He added, "There is a growing demand for these skills in Western Montana, as well the entire state. Geospatial technology is ideal for workforce development, as more and more agencies and private sector companies are implementing these technologies as part of their IT infrastructure."

"This technology is being used for everything from natural resource management to emergency response" stated AquilaVision's President and CEO, Chuck Eubank. "It is our intention to provide professional training to help people develop the workforce skills and knowledge that users need to stay up-to-date with ever-evolving technology," he added.

Beginning in July, the Northern Rockies Training Center will offer ESRI Authorized Instruction, Custom GIS courses for local government, natural resource managers, remote sensing for weed managers and mobile GIS solutions featuring GPS technology.
